LOS ANGELES - Derek Otte, a 6-5 opposite hitter from Loyola High in Los Angeles, has signed a letter of intent with the USC men's volleyball team, head coach Pat Powers announced.

Otte made the 2001 All-CIF Division II first team as a junior. As a sophomore in 2000, he was on the All-CIF Division I third team and the All-League first team.

He was a member of the 2001 USA Boys' Youth National Training Team and the 2000 USA Boys' Youth National Team. He participated in the USA Boys' High Performance Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1999. He made the All-Tournament team at the U.S. Junior Nationals in 2000 (17-and-under) and 1999 (16-and-under).

He also plays basketball and soccer at Loyola.
